Kansas Academy of Theatrical Arts

30+ Years. KATA Confident. KCK Proud.

30+ successful years of building character, equipping youth, and launching leaders

to be creative assets in the Kansas City, Kansas (KCK) community and beyond.

We teach. We inspire. We connect.

Established in 1990, we are the only performing arts youth organization in Kansas City, KS offering comprehensive arts education and leadership development.

We promote positive citizenship through involvement in the arts, including:

Our spotlight is on character.

30+ years of making dreams come true.

KATA alumni are in every profession all over the world. Clayton is one of our beloved students who couldn’t get enough of acting and made a living out of it in NYC. Who knew Clams Marinara would be the breakout role?

Music to our ears.

“Thank you, and one thing I learned, is that no matter what anybody thinks of you, don’t ever think of yourself any different.”

Kaydence, high school student

“You’re a one of a kind teacher. I think it’s cool that you have a positive relationship with all of your kids.”

Eric, Youth Summer Staff

“Thank you for all you provided me with.  It was all leading up to something great!”

Jamaica, KATA Alum, referring to her direction of the 2020 Give ‘Em Hope concert on the USS Harry S. Truman

“Not only did I get the chance to help youth in our community grow their confidence and start reaching for their dreams, I learned so much more about myself and what it means to be a leader in today’s world.”

Ranae, KATA Intern ‘19, Benedictine College grad ‘20, Finance Professional

“I love that you taught an inclusiveness class. All studios need to take a class like this. I can tell you from experience with many studios they struggle to include everyone.”

Susan, parent

“Thank you so much for being a light in my daughter’s life!  I am so moved by your efforts to reach out to her!! You have definitely made an IMPACT.”

Rebecca, parent
