To recognize our arts education collab with Kristi’s Academy of Dance and KCK Public Schools, Mayor Tyrone Garner officially proclaimed July 28-30, 2022 as “The Week of the Wiz” in Wyandotte County. We are so humbled by this honor!

When KCK youth and adults in “The Wiz” took the stage at Washington High School this summer to tell that story of friendship, family and the universal power of home, they also learned how participating in theatre can teach those same ideals.

Thanks to the 800+ guests, including KCK Mayor Tyrone Garner, who attended our collaborative production of The Wiz! KATA, Kristi’s Academy of Dance, and KCK Public Schools make a powerhouse team!

As a winner of the Seven Days Kindness Action Essay Competition, Fatima received a scholarship award for her written work about her KATA experience. This includes her work as creator/host of the Amiga Advice podcast. Congratulations, Fatima!
